Our company is seeking a Founding Engineer to build and scale its personal health iPhone app, integrating health records, wearables, and AI-driven insights. The role involves shaping product architecture, leading engineering standards, and collaborating directly with co-founders across iOS, backend, and AI systems.
Responsibilities
What you'll do
- You'll work directly with the co-founders across native iOS, the backend, and the AI architecture underneath, and you'll set the standards that decide how Veyda is built for years to come.
- This is a founding seat on a small team with a live product and a long roadmap: you'll shape the product, the architecture, and the engineers who come after you.
- The iPhone app, in Swift and SwiftUI: the conversation a person has with Veyda about their health, the health history behind it, and the in-app store and membership features around it.
- The connections: health systems and doctors' offices, labs, wearables, and the lifestyle apps people already use.
- The AI architecture: multi-model routing, memory, retrieval, and the checks that keep every answer grounded in a person's own record and in named sources.
- The pipeline that turns records, labs, wearables, and lifestyle signals into a health history a person can read, trust, and keep.
- The engineering foundation: architecture, code review, CI, observability, and how we build with AI coding tools without lowering the quality bar.
Requirements
What you’ll bring
- Fluent in Swift, SwiftUI, and Apple's Human Interface Guidelines. You've shipped to the App Store, and product feel matters to you as much as code quality.
- AI-native. Modern coding agents are your default environment. You direct them, review their output hard, and know exactly where they fall short.
- At home across iOS, backend, and AI systems. You can hold the whole product in your head and keep it coherent.
- Careful with health information. Veyda is HIPAA-aligned, and privacy and security are design constraints, not a checklist at the end.
- Ambitious, resourceful, and self-directed. You'd rather own an ambiguous problem than execute a clean spec.
